If you thought Windows Mobile 6 was finally laid to rest, think again. It turns out that there is something called Windows Phone 6 Starter Edition, which addresses new and emerging markets and can be used for the calculation of field-resistant and so on.

The Phone Windows 6 Starter Edition is compatible with almost any mobile phone connectivity used today – 2G GSM, GPRS, EDGE, CDMA2000, EV-DO Rev A and TD-SCDMA (Chinese house developed 3G). Be available in two versions – with and without Office Mobile.

But here’s the kicker – The phone Windows 6 Starter Edition, despite the “Phone” in its name has nothing to do with Windows Phone 7. It’s just a renamed Windows Mobile 6.5. Well, I guess you can not make a device like the Motorola MC55 and put social networking on it.
